Since 2012, over five million workers have been enroled on the workplace pension scheme under the auto-enrolment scheme, with many more expected over the next 12 months as the staging deadline for many businesses picks up this month. It is expected that over a million small businesses still need to enrol employees into the pension scheme.

The Federation of Small Businesses found that 45% of UK businesses remained unclear on auto-enrolment rules and staging. The Federation of Small Businesses also found that 25% of businesses might not be able to manage the additional costs of auto-enrolment.
