Health & Safety Consultant
Prior to working for Avensure Grace worked for Chorley council as a student environmental Health officer primarily enforcing the Food Standards Agency, National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme within the borough. She was also involved in government initiatives around private sector housing, public health (NHS bowel cancer screening programme), Public Health England, food sampling scheme and Legionella testing within care homes, environmental protection of contaminated land and managing the councils RIDDOR portal for accidents reported by business within the borough and acted on where appropriate.
After graduating from the University of Salford with an upper class honours degree in Environmental Health, Grace started her career as a Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Assistant. She assisted clients through risk and CoSHH assessments and advised on general health and safety queries. She ensured that the company’s internal health and safety management system was up to date including Health and Safety policy, DSE assessments, Fire Arrangements, Control of contractors and internal risk assessments. Because of this she understands the sometimes mammoth task presented to our own clients.

Lee served in the Royal Navy and specialised in surveying activities, as well as the collection of meteorological data in maritime and aviation environments. Safe Seamanship was vital to all operations and Lee achieved the Maritime and Coastguard Agency Efficient Deck Hand Award which demonstrated my Health and Safety (HS) at Sea proficiency.
On discharge Lee embarked on a career in HS in the Health Care Sector with an Ambulance Provider and a Consultancy, working in the NHS and private sectors. Lee was involved in clinical aspects of care, training, method statements, policy formulation, HS advice and CQC registration. This provided valuable experience of HS Management in diverse healthcare environments.
Lee developed and taught bespoke courses in a wide variety of industry settings in the HS Training Department at Europe’s largest further education establishment. Courses delivered included First Aid, Fire Awareness/Marshall, HS Awareness, COSHH, Risk Assessment and Manual Handling.
Lee’s current role allowed him to provide HS Advice and Consultancy across a diverse client base. The provision of guidance and support through such means as action planning and gap analysis to aid improvements have been outcomes that have provided partners a means of adhering to their legal, moral and financial obligations, in a simple and understandable way. Lee has created bespoke documents including reports, procedures, training aids and risk assessment guidance for clients.
Lee’s management responsibilities have involved development of HS service provision to enhance the client experience and provide innovative multimedia engagement tools and resources. This aids in planning and documenting compliance, HS Management, safety culture improvements, informing and instructing staff, through well designed function and simplicity for the end user.
Lee co-ordinates a group of National Field Consultants and a close knit department of Advisers in-house to ensure high quality, effective service delivery.
