Two TUPE transfers and daily HR cover for a UK GP practice

Sector-aware HR support handled back-to-back TUPE projects and complex day-to-day people issues for a busy general practice.

  • Sector: GP & Pharmacy

A UK GP practice needed HR support that understood how primary care actually runs, including partners, salaried GPs, nurses, admin and PCN-linked roles, while also carrying the practice through two separate TUPE projects on top of the usual pipeline of tricky people issues.

The challenge

Alongside a steady flow of complex individual HR matters, the practice went through two TUPE transfers within a relatively short period. Each transfer touched multiple staff groups on different terms, with no room for procedural error given the clinical and regulatory context.

What we did

A sector-aware adviser managed the TUPE information and consultation, measured obligations to and from transferring staff and coordinated with counter-party providers. In parallel, the same team fielded day-to-day queries, from performance concerns to policy questions, with practice-appropriate answers.

The outcome

Both TUPE projects landed without procedural challenge, and the practice now treats outsourced HR as an embedded part of how it operates rather than an occasional call-out. The management team reports significantly less time lost to HR firefighting.

Their professionalism has saved us hours of worry and hours of work, and they genuinely understand how a GP practice runs.
